Real Warriors Freestyle Martial Arts To Join Its First Tournament

Jeff
Our freestyle martial arts organization, Real Warriors Freestyle Martial Arts, headed by Pastor Orlando Villaseñor (third degree blackbelt) and myself, will be sending participants to a tournament of Kyokushin Karate on the 27th of November in San Juan for the first time. There will be two participants from Makati and three from Santolan, Pasig of the SBC ministries.

Kyokushin kaikan (極真会館?) is a style of stand-up, full contact karate, founded in 1964 by Korean-Japanese karate master, Masutatsu Oyama. Since our organization is fairly new and we are sending participants who are mostly white belts or beginners and a few green belts, we are really pushing them hard in their training. We did not use fat burners for men to help our students reduce weight but relied on training (karate, kick boxing, aikido, judo) and exercise.

Initially, for this first tournament, we hope for our students to gain exposure in tournaments and that they will be challenged as see how the trainings we are holding fair with the other martial arts organizations.

Marikina United FC Joins January 23, 2010 Tournament

Jeff
It was an exciting weekend as our football club, Marikina United FC, joined a tournament held at the Marikina Sports Park. I woke up early even though I slept late the night before reading about life insurance quotes. It was a one-day tournament participated by the Ateneo Blue Guards, MFA, Claret FC, Corinthians FC, Condemn FC and ESA.

Each match had a 12-minute half and each team on the pitch were composed of seven members including the goal keeper and the football field was reduced to one-third of the standard size.

Our club played the whole day but I was able to play only two games because I had to go to a lunch event. Overall, it was great even though we did not win in the two games that I played. Below is a video of my experience in the tournament.

Our Football Club Will Be Joining A Tournament On Saturday

Jeff
On Saturday, january 23, 2010, our football club, Marikina United FC will be joining a one-day tournament, together with seven other football clubs mostly based in NCR, and this will be held at the Marikina Sports Park. I am excited and at the same time nervous because I haven’t been in shape for a long time.

The two week preparation that I had, I think, is not enough to get me to match fitness. I haven’t gained much weight so I don’t really need to use weight loss supplements that work but I have decreased my speed and am just hoping that I would be able to keep up with the other payers we’ll be up against. Games start at 8 AM.

Dodge Ball Tournament Experience at Club 650

Jeff
I attended a dodge ball tournament last Saturday at Club 650 in Libis and had a great time. It was an event organized to help cancer patients and was attended by bloggers and sponsors and from different advertising companies. There were two teams of bloggers, Digital Manila and Blog Ballers. None of the bloggers' teams reached the finals but we all appreciated the time to bond with each other with this fun event.

After a whole day of competing against other dodge ball teams, I and my team mates Azrael, Cher, Rochelle, Dominique and Omar sweated out so much that I thought even the best diet pills would not top it. And today, my body still feels sore from using muscles that I haven't used for a while. Dodge ball is truly not just a recreational activity. It can be considered as a sport, eventually, as the Dodge Ball Association of the Philippines are leading in promoting and spreading this physical activity in the Philippines.

Marikina United FC 4-2 Against UST High School

Jeff
Our football club, Marikina United FC, won its first game for the Third Terry Razon Copa Filipina Tournament (Third Division) last Saturday at 1:00PM and it was held at Xavier School and they went up against UST High School. Our club won 4 goals to 2. Too bad I wasn't able to join them for that game and I won't be able to join them for the next match on Nov. 30, 8:00AM at the same venue against Xavier FC. I look forward to the other matches and as I looked at the schedule, I will be able to play on out third match which will be against De La Salle Zobel.

Below are pictures from last year's tournament.

It's me and the rest of our Marikina United FC under coach and club manager Jun Caceres.

Marikina United FC and Claret Alumni's Tune Up Game

Jeff
I just got home, took a shower and ate my second dinner, after our football team's (Marikina United FC) tune-up game against Claret Alumni held at Marikina Sports Park. The game started out well, and it was great because we had the lights turned on and it was like playing under the sun, at night. That was how bright it was.

The first 45 minutes ended at 1-1 but at the end of the game, it was 5-3 in favor of Claret. Everything was going well until the game heated up and it was one of our Chinese team mates defending his younger brother against a Claret alumni who was also hot headed. I have actually have had a personal encounter with this guy in the past but, since I am always apologetic and I try to broaden my mind about how physical soccer could be, we ended up shaking hands. But the two players in our game tonight almost had a scuffle. It was a good thing that people around were quick enough to prevent the fight from happening.

I understand their reactions but I guess not too much to understand how they might want to take it into a fight. I am passionate about soccer, too, but it is just a game. And everyone else's major concern in the field a while ago was how we were consuming our paid time in Marikina Sports Park which charges P1,000 per hour for the use of the lights on the soccer field. Everybody was just telling the two players to just play.

Oh, well. It's a good thing they didn't end up hurting each other, otherwise it would have been much worse for both of our teams. But, we're sure we'll all see each other again at the NCR FA 3rd Division 2008-2009 tournament which will start on the second week of November.
