We Supported the Earth Hour 2008!

Jeff

Last night my whole family supported the Earth Hour 2008. So we had our lights plus our other appliances turned off from 8-9 in the evening. We spent half that time driving around to look for other homes in our community who were supporting this endeavor and came up with only three other homes which did. We spent the other half of the Earth Hour playing hide and seek in our small house and boy, it was fun! So who else among dear readers supported the Earth Hour. I'd love to hear your stories.

The Best "Kare Kare" I've Tasted!

Jeff

I've always declared that one of my favorite foods is "Kare Kare". This is a Filipino dish using peanuts as main part of the ingredient which makes it taste like it should. Well, a few weeks ago, I took my family to dinner at Bacolod Chicken in Sta. Lucia Mall, Cainta. We actually returned there for their crispy chicken skin which we (me, my wife and especially my son) all love. I tried out their Kare Kare, and after many many years of declaring it as one of my favorites, my love for it was rekindled. The easte was just so right and you could actually tell that they made it using natural peanuts (the way it should taste). Partnered with the tasty "bagoong", it really is worth its price and this is enough for three people already. (Burp!) Excuse me. :)

Back From the Hospital

Jeff
I'm very glad for me and my wife to be home again after four days of being in the hospital. My wife has been having fevers last week and we haven't been able to manage them and so we went to the doctor who then recommended hospitalization. Allergic reactions to the medicines previously prescribed to her caused rashes to appear all over her body aside from the inflammation of her lymph nodes on both sides of the neck due to infection (which caused the unmanageable fevers). The proper diagnosis and prescription of the right meds really helped my wife's condition improve.

I thank God for His provision for our family especially during this time of sickness. The health card provided by our mother church as a benefit proved to be very helpful as we were discharged from the hospital paying only a minimal amount, the rest being covered by the HMO. I just pray that my family's health will be fully restored because a situation like this can really be very stressful. We're really glad to be home again and glad to be with Jed again.

California Fashion Schools

Jeff

A few weeks from now many high school students will be on their way to another phase in their education. As a youth counselor I hope that every graduating student has already made up his or her minds about the career he or she will pursue college.

For California based students looking to pursue a career related to fashion I would recommend Fashion-School-Finder.com. This site can help them find the fashion school in California that best suits them. This web site can assist them in searching for accredited fashion schools in California, accredited fashion schools in Los Angeles or other fashion related schools which offer programs in this state where there are many fashion-focused areas. Fashion-School-Finder.com is a great source of information on fashion related careers and schools.

Home Movers

Jeff

This is actually the first time I've seen a house being moved. There is a term here in the Philippines, "lipat bahay" which means home movers. This is literally a "lipat bahay". I took these pictures on my way back to Manila from Tarlac after finishing some more preparations for the summer youth camp I was elected to direct.

The youth camp will be held at the Mt. Peniel camp site in Capas, Tarlac and the camp's theme is "Heroes:Ordinary People with an Extraordinary Calling". We're hoping to reach our goal of 800 young people each week for two weeks on April 15-18 and 22-25.

Taking these pictures from my Canon A620 was a good relief after a busy day of planning and preparation.
