Asus N10 (E/J), MSI Wind and Lenovo S10 Compared

Jeff

As I was surfing the internet for other netbooks besides my other options, the Lenovo S10 and the MSI Wind, I came across this lovely piece of netbook but has the specifications of a notebook. It's the newly released Asus N10 available in the Philippines as E and J for P35,999 and P39,999, respectively. the Asus N10 has the following specifications:

*Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz Processor
*512 KB L2 Cache, 533 MHz Front Bus speed
*2 GB DDR2 RAM
*160 GB or 320 GB SATA Hard Drive for E or J
*10.2" diagonal WSVGA (1024 x 600) Widescreen Display
*Nvidia GeForce 9300M GS with 256MB Dedicated Graphics Memory switchable (for J only) to Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (Intel GMA for E only)
*802.11a/b/g/n Wireless
*Card Reader
*Bluetooth
*6-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery
*Licensed Windows Vista
*SmartLogon facial recognition
*Fingerprint reader
*Weight 3.5 lb

With the given specifications, what sets it apart from the netbooks that carry the Intel Atom N270 is its 256MB dedicated graphics memory which is switchable to Intel GMA if the user wants to save power, but this switchability is only available for the J model. Some other things that blow me away are its 6-cell battery which gives it a battery life of 6 to 12 hours and its full-sized keyboards, facial recognition, fingerprint reader and the bundled Windows Vista.

As for one who has considered the Lenovo S10 and MSI Wind, the things mentioned are the factors that I would consider worth paying for if you are willing to pay about P10-15,000 more as thw MSI Wind is priced at P25,999 but only with a 250 GB HD, without the bluetooth and OS. The MSI Wind does have a 6-cell battery for an additional P5,000 and for an additional bulk in the way it looks.

So, with these things in mind, I am torn between MSI Wind and Asus N10J. For full specs of MSI Wind, and Lenovo S10 please check previous entries and the appropriate links in them. (My Comparison of Lenovo S10 and MSI Wind)

Do wait because Acer and HP may release their Atom based netbooks, too.

Getting Up Feeling Sore

Jeff
Getting up from the bed this morning was quite difficult because I felt sore all over since it has been a long time since I played a full match in a soccer game. I have been doing my regular jogging, yes, but it is far easier than doing a full run constantly during a game. But, again, I am thankful that last night’s game didn’t end up violent otherwise those who have brought with them their self defense products might have used them and made matters worse for those who were just planning to play a friendly game of soccer. Indeed, getting up was hard but a few stretches and I am back in business again.

Marikina United FC and Claret Alumni's Tune Up Game

Jeff
I just got home, took a shower and ate my second dinner, after our football team's (Marikina United FC) tune-up game against Claret Alumni held at Marikina Sports Park. The game started out well, and it was great because we had the lights turned on and it was like playing under the sun, at night. That was how bright it was.

The first 45 minutes ended at 1-1 but at the end of the game, it was 5-3 in favor of Claret. Everything was going well until the game heated up and it was one of our Chinese team mates defending his younger brother against a Claret alumni who was also hot headed. I have actually have had a personal encounter with this guy in the past but, since I am always apologetic and I try to broaden my mind about how physical soccer could be, we ended up shaking hands. But the two players in our game tonight almost had a scuffle. It was a good thing that people around were quick enough to prevent the fight from happening.

I understand their reactions but I guess not too much to understand how they might want to take it into a fight. I am passionate about soccer, too, but it is just a game. And everyone else's major concern in the field a while ago was how we were consuming our paid time in Marikina Sports Park which charges P1,000 per hour for the use of the lights on the soccer field. Everybody was just telling the two players to just play.

Oh, well. It's a good thing they didn't end up hurting each other, otherwise it would have been much worse for both of our teams. But, we're sure we'll all see each other again at the NCR FA 3rd Division 2008-2009 tournament which will start on the second week of November.

Increase Your Company's Profit

Jeff
A friend shared to me once that a business that is good and profitable is the lending business. Having been a bank employee, I have seen how profitable this is when we would receive our money that we lent and its interest every end of the end of the year. And these were just money lent to those who are in need in our office back then.

The difficult part of this business is the debt collection. But if you have a good debt collection system this would be a good business to try.

In the internet, there is a web site that specializes in Debt Collection and that site is none other than americanprofit.net. IN their site can be found links and information about debt collection solutions, collection letters, some frequently asked questions about debt collection and many others.

They work with clients in a wide variety of industries to help them increase their profit through a focus on their account receivables. And they only provide a low-cost fee structure, customer-friendly technology and intervention. This web site claims a greater success rate than other traditional collection companies. This is a nice web site to consider for your debt collection needs.

Blogs Deleted From Entrecard

Jeff
This morning when I checked my email, I got a couple of messages from Entrecard that two of my blogs have been deleted from their system. I tried to dispute one blog but it was given the ultimatum and it won't be considered for reinstatement. I felt bad about this but I guess life must go on. I just feel that the credits I earned through that blog would also be wasted.

Finding Debt Solutions

Jeff
I have told you about my other blog entitled “My Online Money Making Experience” whose url is onlinemoneymaking dot blogspot dot com. In this blog I am trying to share to people I know and people whom I don’t know but am trying to learn how to make money online, tips that I have personally experienced that can help them generate income through blogging.

One benefit that we are already experiencing through this endeavor is through the online income, we were able to pursue our plans of debt settlement. This is something difficult to pursue when there is not enough money that comes in that is why many individuals find a debt consolidator to help them find debt solutions.

There is a web site that is also a non profit organization that helps its visitors consolidate their debts. Whether these debts are credit card loans or pay day loans, this site can help. In fact, they have information about the topic of debt settlement, its definition, its benefits, debt management solutions, and other information about consolidating debt and settling debt. They are backed up by certified credit counselors and a team of debt consolidators. If you are looking to consolidate your debts, visit this site.

Our Home, A Blessing From Above

Jeff
As I was thinking this afternoon, while walking my friend from college days out after his family’s visit to our house, I felt again how blesses we are to finally have our own house. And thinking about it with my son in my arms, I felt happy for him because by God’s grace, my wife and I were able to secure a home for our son at his early age. Though, I would have preferred a bigger floor and lot area so I could make a pvc fence installation but a 48-square-meter home is more than fine. I am glad that a big chunk of the comfort I have been wanting to have has already been provided for my son and there is no one to give credit to but the Almighty God.

Any Promotional Items Corporate Gifts Srednarb SEO Contest Ideas?

Jeff
Learning SEO isn't as easy as I expected even as I joined the promotional-items-corporate-gifts-srednarb SEO contest sponsored by Branders. This contest's final day is on December 22, 2008 and as of now, two of my three page entries are in the top 20 of MSN's Live search but about the 22nd page in the search results of Google and 15th page of Yahoo search.

I am surprised to even see my page in the top 10 of MSN but during weekends, it gets run over by other contestants and I am running out of things to do. I am not ready to give up but I hope I could get some suggestions even as anything is allowed in this contest including Black Hat tricks. Not that I want to learn them but at least I should know the tricks so I could avoid attempts to pull my site down in Google SERPS (search engine results pages) because I think that is one of the reasons why my sites aren't appearing in Google SERPS.

So, what I'll do is try to read SEO e-books so I can at least rank higher in Yahoo and Google and maintain my ranking in MSN for the promotional-items-corporate-gifts-srednarb SEO contest.

If you feel like helping out, you can do so by linking these sites in your blog until December 22, 2008. I would appreciate it so much and will link you here in my site, which will benefit your site and mine because we'll have one-way links. Thanks.

Here are my entries and their anchor texts.

I Like My Body Type

Jeff
I am glad I don't need to take pills like the alli diet pills and the like to lose weight. My current body weight ranges between 128 to 135 pounds and I can easily jump from 133 to 129 pounds with just some regular jogging at a sports park near our place. Of course, that's aside from the fact that I play soccer once or twice every two weeks. I guess I was just given this body type and I really thank God for it.

My Comparison of MSI Wind and Lenovo S10

Jeff
After spending a few minutes online searching some reviews about mini-notebooks, I found one at notebookreview.com and was able to compare the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 and MSI Wind. There are other units that compete with these, actually, and they are Asus eePC and Acer Aspire One. Well, after doing a little research I have come to the conclusion of still buying an MSI Wind this December. There are actually many things to compare but some main reasons are because MSI Wind has four USB slots as compared to only two for Lenovo S10, the Lenovo S10 heats up on your lap more than the MSI Wind and as for looks, the MSI WInd has a business look to it comapred to the Lenovo's 'toy like' appearance. As for their performance, review say that MSI Wind is better than Lenovo S10using the wPrime processor comparison results (lower scores mean better performance) in which the former scored 124.656 seconds while the latter 127.172 seconds.

You would notice that I only mentioned the MSI Winds advantages over the Lenovo and that is because I have had the intention of getting the Wind even before (if you would look at my blog's July and August archives) so I was finding its advantages over the new released mini-notebook.

But, a great thing that I read was that Intel will be releasing (or maybe has released) a dual-core Atom processor which is an upgrade of the mini-notebooks that use the Intel Atom processor (the single-core was Atom N270 and the dual-core is Atom 330). And I have seen in the store where I plan to buy that they are providing an option for the upgrade for MSI Wind purchased between October to December 2008.

I am still open, though, in case new releases of mini-notebooks are made with talks that HP and Dell will be releasing their Atom powered notebooks before 2009.

Old Friends and New Gadgets

Jeff
Yesterday I met up with my friends from college and did a little catching up on each other's business and life. We all graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering but we had different paths that we took. I became a pastor, the other became an IT guy and the other one focused on HVAC, somewhat related to our program in college.

Well, in our get together, we discussed about many stuff including mini-notebooks. I learned from my IT-guy friend that Lenovo launched a mini-notebook to compete with Asus eePC, Acer Aspire One and MSI Wind (which I prefer the most and which he didn't mention). Since he is in IT he knows a lot about this stuff. Even during those time when I used to buy unlocked cell phones, he would always have the best recommendations on phones.

Anyway, he was recommending the Lenovo S10 which I will be searching for in a moment to compare against MSI Wind. They both carry the Intel Atom but I guess it's just their features and what others say about them that I need to research on. I am set to buy a mini-notebook by December and I need to decide on which one will be the best buy.

Should I Get Insurance For My Old Car?

Jeff
I just need to ask my readers opinion on something. Would you recommend getting a car insurance for an old car? You see the car I’m driving at the moment is a 1989 Nissan California. So I am not sure if an insurance company would even consider insuring it? I mean I just am curious because we just had its body totally repaired less than two months ago and I don’t want to spend much on it again in case it gets a scratch or gets bumped. Can you share your opinion on this, please?A Picture of our Nissan California

Shopping for Christmas Decors

Jeff
Today, I went to Divisoria, a local shopping place in Manila where people buy anything at low price. I went there to buy some decors for our Christmas tree which we set up yesterday. It was so bare yesterday, it only had lights on it. But today I bought three sets of decorations and I got a dozen of each Christmas decor for only P900 (a little less than $20). If I went to a regular mall I would have gotten the decorations for about P1,500 (a little more than $30). In addition to the decorations I was able to do some early shopping for my son's Christmas gifts and it cost me just $2 for toys he really likes. I can't wait to bring my wife along next time for her Christmas shopping.

About Making Money Online

Jeff
Knowing how to Make Money Online is something I have been trying to learn this past ten months and praise God I have been learning on the job. I can’t say that I have become rich because of my own online business but it sure has provided well for me and my family and we are on our way, thank God, to becoming debt free.

If you are looking to start a Home Business there are lots of web sites that can help you. I have mentioned in one of my previous my own blog about this and here is another one that I would like to feature.

This one is a Plug-In Profit Site that claims to be a proven home business opportunity allowing those involved in affiliate and network marketing to promote different affiliate programs using one website. The site is HomeBusiness.us. This site shows rags-to-riches stories of people who have made it big through their program.

Let me clarify that I have not personally tried out their program but for those who want to try theirs out, why not? There are many ways to make money in the internet and this site’s method is one of them. Why don’t you try it out to see for yourself. Visit the site now.

Captured a Rainbow

Jeff
This afternoon while I was out to the bank and to the drugstore because my son was having a fever, I captured a picture of something beautiful - a rainbow in the eastern part of Metro Manila. A rainbow is already beautiful on its own, but this rainbow was a complete arch. I tired to take a picture of the whole arch but my cellphone camera's view wasn't wide enough to capture it all. So, I took pictures and got three shots. The view was so beautiful that people on the streets of Sumulong Highway were pointing to it and smiling at each other while expressing to each other how nice it looked. The rainbow is a sign of God's promise in Genesis and I am always in awe when I remember this. How great the Creator of this world is!

We Found an HDMI Capable DVD Player!

Jeff
We were able to find a DVD player that is HDMI capable. Actually, as per inquiry, many brands offer this type of DVD player in the market here but they are bundled with a home theater system and it costs at least P15,000. But the good news is there is one brand that sells just the DVD player and according to the place we went to, Samsung is the only brand that offers the player without the home theater system. This is yet to be verified but guess how much the DVD-F1080 cost? I was told before that an HDMI capable DVD player would cost about P7,000-8,000. Well, this one we found costs only P4,990 and is sleek and not that big. I am still on the look out for other brands who might come up with just the DVD player and not with the home theater system but we do hope to buy an HDMI capable DVD player before January 2009.

It's Tournament Season Again

Jeff
A new season is in for football in NCR as the National Capital Region Football Association initiated a soccer tournament that will tentatively start on November 8 and will run until March of 2009. The tournament will be participated by at least 15 teams including our football team, Marikina United FC.

With all these brewing, I would need to get back in shape just in case there are days that I am available for the soccer matches. I am glad I don’t gain too much weight so I won’t need some diet pills to get me back to my agile weight. I just need to make my regular runs and try to get back my speed and stamina.

Marikina United’s training schedule is every Thursday at 6:00PM, Saturdays and Sundays at 4:30PM at the Marikina Sports Park, formerly known as Marikina Sports Center.

Maximizing Our TV Experience

Jeff

I am thinking about maximizing our experience with our new 32-inch LCD TV so I will be going to the mall with my family to look for an HDMI cable and a player that is HDMI enabled. I am excited to see how much difference in the quality of the video that will have if data is sent through that cable. I heard that players that are HDMI enabled are still around P7,000-8,000. If that is the case then I guess we’ll just settle first with window shopping later.

Is The Rumor About the One Hundred Peso Bill True?

Jeff
A few weeks ago, some of my friends told me that the (P100) one hundred peso bill with the UP Centennial logo on it can be bought as high as P1,000 by interested buyers, mostly collectors. I wasn't quick on believing it but I don't know how to verify it. Apparently, they (my friends) are keeping their one hundred peso bills for that reason. Can anyone shed some light on this matter ,please?

An Office Table and Faster Internet Connection

Jeff
My next projects after reformatting my PC and my wife’s laptop is to build an office table that we will both use and then to change our internet subscription from wireless to DSL, hopefully the cheapest business plan, so we get faster connection.

For the office table, I have already laid out plans for its construction and will be purchasing the wood I’ll need to build it when we have the money for it. For the faster internet connection, probably not until December, but I hope sooner because my wife and I have really been frustrated by our current connection. Even if we use a CAT6, the promised ‘up to 384 kbps’ speed isn’t really maximized or isn’t really attained most of the time.

My hope is that this will help us work more comfortably home when we blog at home and that our living room would look better because at present we are using our couch as our seats and the center table as our office. With the new additions and adjustments to our living room, we really need to be doing these other improvements.

Learning By Doing

Jeff
Now that I have installed most of the software I need for my PC (and my wife’s laptop) I am back in business. Reformatting was not that difficult after all, less trouble than finding the best acne treatment. Before, I thought it would be too technical and I was afraid I might mess everything in my computer, but by trying it and doing it I experienced how easy it was.

Learning is real easy when it is done on the job. But of course, there are risks involved but the benefits outweigh the risks. Because after trying to reformat my hard drive I have now learned it by heart and I could easily do it again. Much like my attempt to learn SEO by joining the contest with keywords ‘promotional items corporate gifts srednarb’, I hope I learn SEO by heart, too and get salebooksandmusic.com ranked by December. You can help, by the way, by linking it until December – it will be a big favor for me.

I Just Reformatted My Hard Drive

Jeff
Yesterday, I reformatted my PC's hard drive for many reasons and I have reinstalled the drivers in need and most of the software I use. I just need a Microsoft Office installer and will be going to the mall to get me one.

Some of the problems I encountered was with Yahoo Messenger. It started to not work properly - I couldn't send messages but I could connect and receive messages from my friends. Another reason I had to reformat was because of the size of my disk partition. Because of y software installations I was running out of space on my installation drive. So, one of the things I did was increase the size of one partition from 20GB to about 30GB. My previous PC Study Bible software installation was also corrupted so with the reformat, everything is better now.

In addition, I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security now instead of the free anti-virus from AVG. Of course, still partnered with the Ad-Watch monitor from Lavasoft. I use the older version because it comes with a free real-time monitor. I like the feeling of having a newly reformatted drive, it feels like a new start and it feels so fresh. I just need to get some of the software I need installed immediately so I can get back to work soon.

On the Upcoming Match Between Pacquiao and De La Hoya

Jeff

The boxing match between Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao and Oscar “Golden Boy” De La Hoya is scheduled on December 6 and those who are planning to see the match between Pacquiao and De La Hoya should have gotten their las vegas hotel reservations because I’m pretty sure hotels in Vegas will be pretty packed during that time.

I am excited to watch the match (not live) but on a 32-inch Syntax LCD TV, our advanced anniversary gift to ourselves. I hope Manny Pacquiao wins over Oscar De La Hoya even though the latter has the height and reach advantage. I am for Pac Man even though, honestly, I feel nervous for him. But, that’s how I feel every time he has a match, so it’s no big deal. God bless you, Manny!

Thinking About Selling Your Insurance Policy?

Jeff
If you have a life insurance contract and are thinking about selling it back to the insurance company, I would suggest a web site that could give you a better deal. Their site is committed to finding you the best deal by searching all major buyers and they can give you up to 35% more than the surrender value of your endowment policies.

An endowment policy, according to the online encyclopedia, is a life insurance contract designed to pay a lump sum after a specified term (on its 'maturity') or on earlier death. The typical maturities of endowment policies are ten, fifteen or twenty years up to a certain age limit. Some Endowment Policies also pay out in the case of critical illness.

By going to EndowmentExpress.co.uk you can search the market for the best buyer by just filling out one form. That lessens the hassle for you than doing the work on your own and filling out many forms. They also provide a free quote without any obligation.

So for a smart alternative to surrendering your policy, visit this endowment selling services site that can help you find the best endowment buyer. This is for those who are considering selling their life insurance.

My Blog Just Got Accepted at PayU2Blog!

Jeff

Praise God! I am indeed happy because last night, this blog just got accepted at Payu2blog and I received my first job from them for this blog this morning (this isn't it). Actually, this isn't my first blog that got accepted at Payu2blog. My Football Videos and Pictures blog and Sold Out Live blog were the first two blogs accepted.

This is one of the paid-to-blog services I like most because the usual job assignments they give are only 60-word-$5 sponsored posts and most of the time in free form, which means I do not have to review the advertiser's site unless specified. In my experience, I think I only received one job assignment from them that wasn't free form and I have been blogging with them since June 2008.

Payu2blog is one of the paid-to-blog services that don't easily accept or approve blogs. Actually, after sending your blog for approval, they won't even contact you if you get disapproved. That's just how they are. I'm glad that last June on of my blogs got accepted and, since then, I learned through the account manager who I communicate with, the same one who sent me the message that my blog was approved last June, that since I already have an account with them, I won't have to submit my blog for approval through their site's approval process (like creating another account by using a different e-mail). I just had to e-mail the account manager and they will contact me through that person.

And that's what I have been doing these past four months. My account manager at Payu2blog sent me an soe information in two separate e-mails and she said, "Since you have been blogging with us for 30 days, we can add review one of your other blogs to add to your site." So that's what I did with the second blog (the football blog) - I just submitted it after 30 days of blogging with them and it got approved. The account manager also said, "You can add one blog every 30 days up to 5 total."

So last July, I started transforming some of my blogspot blogs to custom domain blogs, meaning, I bought them their own domains (some of them) so I can maximize 5 blogs with Payu2blog. For this blog's domain I just bought it last August and now it has passed Payu2blog's requirements (I submit my own domain blogs when they get a Page Rank). Actually, I submitted this blog two months ago, but I guess because its stats started again from scratch when I got a domain name, they politely said to give it another thirty days before I resubmit. And true to their word, it got approved.

So, if you haven't tried Payu2blog, try them. They have a constant set of jobs that they give regularly so you can be assured of a steady source of income through blogging with them. And they pay twice a month so it's like receiving a regular salary. This isn't a paid post by the way and I won't earn anything if you join through the Payu2blog link in this post. They don't have an affiliate or referral program. I wrote this because blogging with Payu2blog does make me happy! :)

Needing Inspiration and Discipline

Jeff
Sometimes, there are days when I don’t feel so inspired to write and create posts on my blogs. This is quite difficult especially because I maintain many blogs. It is a good thing that the blogs I have are about things that regularly happen in my life and some about stuff that I like and love. At least when I experience something new I can just easily write about it even though I am not a professional essay writer.

This problem isn’t only encountered by bloggers like me but students as well. And it is much more difficult for them because a lot of times the stuff studied in school are so much that in doing multiple assignments or requirements discipline is what’s needed and not inspiration.

For some students, they have the option to purchase essays and papers online. There are sites for that, and one example is StandOutEssay.com, a web site where a student can buy an essay online. The writers for this web site are professionals so they guarantee students 100% plagiarism-free essays and can help students get a grade of A+.

So, for those who need help with writing, you can check out this site. But here’s a reminder for students, shortcuts are never a guarantee for long term success.
